Automatic Reconencts
Occasionally I find the need to go afk for 30 mins to do something that I must do. Most of the time this dont matter as im not doing anything long.
However during a dungeon or a large vanquish with 250+ enemies It is a little annoying that when I come back that i can no longer reconnect.
A guildie says there is something that I could use but that Anet classifies it as a hack and bans you for it. I dont want to hack gw in any way or do something classed as hacking either.
However does anyone know of any way to reconnect automatically that anet does not classify as hacking?

Well, the best thing to do is to plan your Vanquishing or Dungeons for a time when you will not need to be away for more than 5 min (ie bathroom or phone call). If you think you may be away for that long than do other things. How often does it lose connection for you? It could be your ISP or other things..... I have probably only lost connection 10-12x over 3 yrs...

If it's something that happens often, chanses are it's on your end. Try checking your power saving settings as some will cut power from your network connection after a certain amount of time. If you find this is the case, adjust them so the time before it kicks in is longer than your average away time. You can also check your router/modem settings and make sure that it has an always on connection instead of disconnecting when idle. Guild Wars itself will not disconnect you for being away for a few hours.

It is on my end. And it is only ten minutes.
However due to the nature of my job - I live in i can sometimes be called away and i have to go. This is from 10am till around 2am after midnight 7 days a week. Therefore I cannot make the plans that someone suggested.
Still nobody has answered my question.

To answer your question, no, you cannot reconnect after the 10 minute timer has lapsed.

Oh come on guys. ---immortius and ghost
When you go afk for a half an hour - sometime syou may get an error 7.
Lets say the timer of 10 mins is up? That is my problem.

Theres nothing you can really do about it I'm sorry. What 30 minute things do you mean? I don't really afk in game so I can't comment much here but can't you find like 20 seconds to come back and check that you are still in?

Well I have done this a few times but it hit or miss. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I just power off my PC by holding the power button down. With GW still running. When I log back on it says something like GW failed to disconnect properly would you like to reconnect and it brings me back to when I powered down.

About the only thing you can really do is check out things on your end. There's no reason you should be disconnecting that often. Check your ISP. Is your computer up to snuff?
I AFK ingame all the time. Mostly the same reasons you do. I'm vanquishing a large area or doing a tough dungeon with h/h. I'll leave the computer up and logged in all day and I rarely disconnect.
I also leave myself logged in for days during the boardwalk weekends on the rings. Again, it's rare that I wake up in the morning to a disconnect screen.

I think I understood what you meant, but the going afk is not your problem right? You don't have an err7 problem, you know you will be disconnected. What you want is a hack (yes it's a hack and therefore agains rules) that will let you reconnect even though your 10min counter has gone by. Because the 10min counter itself is not controlled by your client, but rather by the servers, it's not something you can extend or prevent. The only thing left to you is finding a way to get your gaming pc to stay on, stay connected (you already said it's something that you know happens on your end and not a network issue or such). So, lets say your 3/4 of your way to vq a 500+ foe zone when you get called off, leave your pc on (after setting it up to keep everything runnin), put yourself in away mode in your friends list if you like, and leave it. Again, GW itself wond disconnect you for a day worth of afk (short of a network hickup), so once you come back you're free to complete your tasks. The process of preventing your pc from sleeping is not hard, and once you set them up you don't have to bother with it agian. gl on whatever you decide.

There's probably an addon to autoreconnect, not cheat the timer, but again, against the rules.

No. What I want is something that reconencts me as soon as the client gets the option to reconnect on my end if I have gone afk. If the time I have spent afk is longer than ten minutes and i miss the timer this is really annoying.

Do you know what AFK means?
It doesnt mean log off.. AFK is just simply minimizing the game window as you would any other program and keeping the game "running" while you are doing your bussiness....
All i can really suggest for you is to periodically check wether you are still in game or not otherise.. there is known way to 'cheat' this =)

This is actually a sensible request. Why does it even ask if you want to reconnect really, how many people don't want to? Could just automatically start reconnecting and give a cancel option.
On the other hand you could try taping down the enter key.
